Red Alert, Santa Clara Vanguard
Time is Short.
It is June 16, 2023. The 2023 drum corps season is going to come and go in a blink of an eye, and then it will be suddenly the 2024 season.
Red Alert. If there is not already a solid and comprehensive plan to get the Vanguard back onto the field in 2024, then the Santa Clara Vanguard is most likely not coming back in 2024. The battle for 2024 could already be over. Because SCV is almost out of time to get things ready and organized and financed.
If the corps administration and staff is almost ready to go for 2024, genius.
But if not, this is not good.
FACT – Every season that goes by without the Santa Clara Vanguard fielding a corps will make it that much harder to get the corps back on the field, and it may very well be the death of the corps.
FACT #2 – It doesn’t [bleep] matter how competitive the 2024 Santa Clara Vanguard is. It doesn’t matter how far the Santa Clara Vanguard travels. But the 2024 Santa Clara Vanguard must exist in some way, or the amazing decades-long pageantry experiment in Santa Clara is going to come that much closer to ending for good.
